Westover Hill Neighborhood Food Drive tomorrow
![]()
This is a friendly reminder to remind you to place your non-perishable food contributions on your front porch (or most accessible or main home entrance..e.g. if live on Riverside Drive) for pick-up tomorrow morning (Saturday 2/22). Due to the weather forecast for rain tomorrow, we may not pick up until later in the morning; however please have your food on the porch by 8:30 a.m. at the latest. Some of our volunteers may start their rounds as early as 9:00 am.
The following is a list of food items which the Central VA Food Bank recommends….canned fruits, meats, tuna, salmon, and vegetables and for boxed hot and cold cereals, pasta, rice, and spaghetti sauce.
If you would still like to volunteer to help with the pick-up duty, please meet at TAZA Coffee’n Crème (804-233-8646) between 8:30 and 8:45 am. TAZA’s is located in the back of 5047 Forest Hill Road…Vintage Antiques in front of building (between the Locker Room and Forest Hill Restaurants – entrance is red door on corner of building in the back).
Most importantly, please support this worthwhile neighborhood project and help those in need during the cold of Winter by placing your non-perishables food items on the porch tomorrow, Saturday, February 23rd.

Westover Hills Neighborhood Association is on Facebook
![]()

The Westover Hills Neighborhood Association has just joined Facebook and only 8 people know about it so it’s pretty quite right now. However once it gets going it will be a good neighborhood resource to see what’s happening and get a quick answer to any questions you might have. It will not be replacing the Westover Hills Neighborhood Association website (which is excellent by the way) or the email that WHNA folks are currently getting. The Facebook page is another way to talk with your neighbors. Don’t forget that the WHNA meets tonight 7 p.m. at Westover Hills United Methodist Church, all are welcome.

Westover Hills Annual Meeting & Potluck on Thursday
The WHNA’s annual General Membership Meeting will take place Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the Westover Hills United Methodist Church. Highlights of the May meeting include the election of the 2012-2013 WHNA officers, and reports on WHNA activities and committees.
Ralph White, James River Park Manager, will be the guest speaker. White is a well-known local historian and naturalist. Ralph has stated that he will discuss some of the clear cutting that has been noticed along Riverside Drive.
A pre-meeting potluck dinner begins at 6 p.m. WHNA is providing the entré this year, so all you need to bring is a side dish or dessert. Our last potluck featured some delicious homemade dishes, and it was a great time to talk with neighbors and enjoy a good meal! Please RSVP by May 8 to Wade Thrift and let him know if you’ll be bringing a vegetable side dish, starch side dish, or dessert. Children are welcome to attend the dinner; however, there is no provision for child care at the annual meeting. [via WHNA website]

Westover Hills Community Yard Sale is April 21st
The annual event where you can sell your useless stuff and replace it with equally useless stuff. In truth the Westover Hills Yard Sale has been the source of many treasures, the best to date being a doll house with working elevator. If you live in Westover Hills and want to sell here is some additional info. from the WHNA.
WHNA pays for two classified ads in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, one the day before the sale and one the day of the sale. It costs you nothing to participate! (We list only your address in the ads, no names and no description of items to be sold at each household.)
You’ll need to sign up by April 16 to get your address in the ad. Contact Vicki Humphreys by email or 230-7997.
